A Class Engineering enjoyed the challenge of this unique project for Gledhill Constructions. The project was the renovation of the old Dewey and Co Woolstores originally built in 1915. This involved matching into the existing heritage listed building and mounting steel to the top of the old timber columns on level 2.
Scope of works:
- Comprehensive 3D scan of site
- Fabricate, prime/galvanise and installation
- 38 Tonnes of structural steel
Challenges for this project were the very tight access, lack of storage and working from above the second floor. All steel had to be installed as soon as the crane lifted it in, to make way for the next piece. Precision, planning and communication were key.
